About five years ago we started looking at houses with a plan to resettle in the United States after living for nearly 20 years in the Middle East. Trying to find a new home while living afar is a difficult and stressful task. Early this year we made two trips to Vancouver from Santa Fe, New Mexico, to scout both neighborhoods and home prices, and we tried to establish a long-distance working relationship with a realtor from another company. Communication, responsiveness and timely communication, was so very important to us, and we were less than satisfied with what we felt was our first realtor’s lack of time dedicated to us.

I am writing in praise of Linda Humason and the work she did for me and my family over the course of the last year to sell a piece of property we owned along the Columbia Gorge.

Linda is a professional “wonder woman” of real estate! Beginning with a prompt response to my first inquiry (when some other competing brokers in the area did not even return my phone call). Linda took it upon herself to immediately start the process of evaluating the property’s value herself and share the information with me so I could make an informed decision about listing it for sale. In addition to collecting the typical “comparable sales” data, she called the county assessor, drove over and personally walked the property, and researched the special considerations for a Gorge property. Considering my family had not been to nor seen the property in over 25 years, having someone we could trust to handle the transaction was absolutely essential!

Our situation was exceptionally complex (probably still an understatement), and Linda made the sale both easy and manageable for us. As I mentioned above, the property was a piece of land that we had not seen in decades, so we had no way to ascertain the value ourselves. We were trying to sell in a volatile market while fending off several “private offers to buy” from people who may have only intended to snag a below-market deal. We do not live locally and I was representing both my mother and my brother (and their competing priorities) as well as my own interest in all communications with Linda.

To top it all off, there were numerous complexities with the title - including deeds that had never been recorded, title changes, ownership changes, and idiosyncrasies which required numerous trips/calls to the county. Linda went FAR FAR beyond the call of duty to ensure that all information was accurate, all details were followed-up on and accounted for, and all the myriad of pieces were in place to conclude the sale successfully and with grace and ease. She most certainly has the patience of Job to have handled it all with such grace and decorum! She was always available for my questions and concerns, followed-up on every request we made, as well as numerous details regarding communications and filings with various county agencies, walked us carefully through all the necessary paperwork and procedures, and personally saw to it that the requirements of our complex and multifaceted title and escrow needs were fulfilled accurately, efficiently, and promptly.

Linda did more than “go the extra mile” to assist us - she went “miles and miles and miles” beyond that of the average real estate transaction! …And she did so with integrity, honesty, and friendly, personal service!
